Welcome to Dew, a learning assistant for children provided by Rainwater Labs ("Rainwater Labs", "we", "us", "our"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Dew. Dew is set up and controlled by a parent or guardian so that a child can learn safely. By creating an account, accepting these Terms, or allowing a child in your care to use Dew, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Dew.
A Dew account may be held only by a parent or guardian who is at least 18 years old (the "account holder"), who is responsible for the account and for supervising their child's use of Dew. Children use Dew only through the account holder's account and with their consent — the minimum age to create a child profile is 5. The account holder is responsible for activity under the account and for keeping login details secure.
The account holder creates the account, sets up a child profile (first name and a grade or age band), and provides consent for the child to use Dew. We confirm the account holder's email address when the account is created. Consent is given per child and can be withdrawn at any time from Settings. How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Dew is a Socratic learning assistant — it guides children with questions rather than simply giving answers — for maths, general knowledge, and creative writing. Dew's tutoring and safety technology is built and owned by Rainwater Labs. Dew is a learning aid only: it is not a teacher, examiner, or professional adviser, and it is not a substitute for adult supervision or professional instruction. Its answers may not always be complete or correct and should be treated as a starting point for learning.
When using Dew, you and any child using your account agree not to: use Dew for anything other than learning; attempt to obtain unsafe, harmful, or age-inappropriate content; try to bypass or interfere with Dew's safety features; misuse, disrupt, or attempt unauthorised access to the service; or use Dew unlawfully or to infringe the rights of others. To keep Dew safe, we may filter, limit, or decline responses, and suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.
Safety is built into Dew and always on. Dew keeps conversations age-appropriate, stays on learning topics, and responds with care if a child appears to be in distress — sharing a relevant helpline and notifying the parent or guardian. Dew is not a counsellor or emergency service and is not a substitute for professional help or a trusted adult. In an emergency, or if you are concerned about a child's safety, contact your local emergency services or a qualified professional immediately (in India, Childline is available on 1098).
Dew — including its software, design, content, and branding — is owned by Rainwater Labs. We grant the account holder a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use Dew for its intended learning purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse-engineer the service.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we handle, how we keep it secure, and your rights and choices, and it forms part of these Terms. All personal information is stored and processed on servers located in India.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dew is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. Dew is a learning aid and does not guarantee any particular learning outcome. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its answers will always be accurate or complete. Any reliance on Dew is at your discretion, and important information should be checked with a trusted adult or reliable source.
You are responsible for how you and your child use Dew — including supervising your child's use, deciding whether Dew is suitable for your child, and keeping your account secure. Dew is a learning aid; its answers may be incomplete or incorrect, any reliance on it is at your own risk, and important information should be checked with a trusted adult or qualified professional. You are responsible for ensuring that your and your child's use of Dew complies with applicable law. You use Dew, and allow your child to use Dew, at your own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by law: Dew is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind; and Rainwater Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill, or opportunity, arising from your or your child's use of, or inability to use, Dew. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer- or data-protection law. Where any exclusion or limitation is not permitted, our liability is limited to the minimum the law allows.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Rainwater Labs and its directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your or your child's use of, or reliance on, Dew; (b) your breach of these Terms; (c) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party; or (d) content you or your child submit to Dew.
We may update Dew and these Terms from time to time. Where a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to let you know and, where appropriate, ask you to accept the updated Terms. The effective date above shows when these Terms were last updated.
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any mandatory rights you may have as a consumer under local law.
